Google Earth

Little more can be said about Google Earth, that hasn't been said before, because this program has revolutionized the way we see the world.

  It offers detailed satellite imagery of all the planet, with the possibility of three different viewing methods. The first is the Map mode, that will show us maps with cities, towns and roads, so we can set a course to follow or find out our bearings. The second is the Satellite mode, that will give us access to satellite imagery from all over the world, be it the top of a mountain to the street corner of a famous city. And last but not least is the Hybrid mode, that as its name indicates merges both of the other modes.

  In both Satellite and Hybrid mode, Google Earth will allow us to view our houses roof, the dristribution of our neighborhood, our city/town or the country we live in. Thanks to these modes we will be able to investigate cities and areas we are going to visit, to have a good idear of the distribution before we go, o just the possibility to quench our curiosity about some distant country we have never visited.

  Furthermore, the program includes interesting overlays, that can include information regading the locations of importants monuments, or other general interest information, like the possition of underground stations, shops, petrol stations, hotels or chemist, and lots more.

  It also offers aditional services like Panoramic, that will allow us to link geolocated photographs to a specific location, or the outstanding Touring feature that let's us fly over our favourite scenery or city in a completely 3D environment.

  Some of the latest features to be added to Google Earth have taken this application another step further. Use Sky to View space, with the latest satellite and observatory images of the universe. Or dive under the sea with Ocean, that will take you under water. Share your favourite paths with others with the new recording feature included in Touring. Or see the evolution of your neighborhood with the new historic imagery feature.

  An indispensable application that will really change how we see the world that surrounds us.
